ABOUT US

Why is this so imortant to us?

Our sweet boy, Luke Garrett Sutherland-Hamilton, was diagnosed at six years old with Medulloblastoma, a type of brain cancer.  He went through brain surgery and three weeks of recovery and preparations for radiation and chemotherapy when he suddenly took a turn for the worse and passed away exactly one month after diagnosis and weeks after turning seven.

He was brave and happy, kind and smart.  He smiled and laughed every minute of his life, including the days that were filled with pain and limited by the effects of brain surgery.

Luke's cancer was extremely aggressive and baffled doctors by its progression.  He was on a St. Jude's trial and therefore St. Jude's now has his tumor.  I was assured that the research derived from his tumor cells would undoubtedly save other children one day.

Luke always wanted to be a hero, and now he is.
